THE RETURN - PART I

At age twenty-eight, give or take,

Saturn,

Astrology’s own wrecking ball

swings back to the site:

Your sacred construction

in the Cosmos.

Humble, beautiful arrival witnessed,

noted.

THE RETURN - PART II

“Let’s see what this soul

is made of”

He muses.

And with a jolt,

life’s hardest truths unearthed,

core shaking,

eyes opened wide.

You’re not a kid anymore.

HARD FACTS

Hydrogen. Helium. Gas giant.

Sixth

Planet away from the

warmth of our sun.

Second to Jupiter in size.

Our journey of one year

takes Saturn

twenty-eight more.

AND A HARD FACT, SOFT IN THE CENTER

Famous for spectacular rings

which astronomers now observe

are disappearing.

“Saturn’s Beauty Fading!” they declare.

Ouch.

Disrupter disrupted. Evolution’s harsh

reality. Perhaps we’re observing

Saturn’s own Saturn return?

A shiny new laptop inspired Judi MacKenzie to begin writing. When her first finished story won a Chicago area competition, she realized her love of the craft, and particularly, creating quirky characters.

More recently, Judi completed several screenwriting courses at GrubStreet in Boston, and has written two feature length scripts and several shorts. Her comedy screenplay, SUBURBAN SPELL, was a 2018 finalist at the Broad Humor Film Festival in Venice, CA. A few of her stories have appeared on the 50-Word Stories Website. Judi is also a reader for the Austin Film Festival’s screenplay competition.

When not chasing her muse, Judi teaches and practices yoga, and works as a Child Assault Prevention (CAP Project) volunteer for Newton Public Schools. Also a Reiki Master and reader of Tarot Cards, Judi is intrigued by all things esoteric, and such things often find their way into her stories.
